World’s Biggest Mouse Party Coming to Shanghai Disney Resort

There’s no party like a Mouse Party, and nobody knows how to throw one like the “leader of the club that’s made for you and me!”

Recently, Mickey Mouse arrived at the Shanghai Tourism Festival in style and on parade in a brand-new, festival-exclusive Shanghai Disney Resort float called “Mouse Party.” The new themed float marks the launch of World’s Biggest Mouse Party at the resort, celebrating 90 years of Mickey Mouse. The float features Mickey and his friends, including Pluto, Donald, Daisy, and Chip & Dale.

“Mouse Party” will dance its way across the city of Shanghai, sharing Disney magic with local residents and tourists alike. Along the way, Mickey and the gang invite everyone to celebrate Shanghai Disney Resort’s fifth consecutive year participating in the Shanghai Tourism Festival. The resort was recognized as an “Excellent Organizer” at the festival last year and received the honor of “Best Performance” in 2016.

The float’s final day of celebration on October 6th will mark the closing of the Shanghai Tourism Festival at Shanghai Disney Resort’s Disneytown – a first for the event and the resort.

So come along, sing a song, and join the jamboree as “Mouse Party” goes the distance to bring magic and memories across Shanghai!

Succumb to the Spooky Fun at Shanghai Disney Resort this Halloween

Wicked villains, nighttime cavalcades, festive parties, exclusive merchandise, trick-or-treating and more await guests this Halloween season.

This fall, spooky fun and entertainment can be found all over Shanghai Disney Resort as the Halloween season returns in full force. From October 1 through November 4, guests can find mysterious events, special parties, Halloween-themed treats, decorations, and more, with many not-so-scary surprises designed to help guests experience the magic of the season across the entire resort. Offering an escape from the ordinary and a taste of authentic Halloween fun, Shanghai Disney Resort offers a perfect place to spend time with families and friends this autumn.

Villains, ghost pirates and spooky surprises - a perfect potion for a spectacular celebration

The resort welcomes guests this Halloween season with a bewitching array of decorations, including Disney character Jack-O-Lanterns, colorful buntings and banners, and more, delivering mysterious and delightful Disney Halloween surprises around every corner.

As dusk falls, guests can experience Mickey’s Halloween Treat Cavalcade and watch as Mickey and Minnie, dressed up in their Halloween costumes, make their way across Shanghai Disneyland, followed by a gang of villainous Disney characters, including Dr. Facilier [from Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog”], Maleficent [from Disney’s “Sleeping Beauty”], Hades [from Disney’s “Hercules”] and this year’s newcomer, the Queen of Hearts [from Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland”]. Duffy and his friends have also joined the nighttime cavalcade in their Halloween costumes for a fun and festive close to the nighttime action.

When sauntering around Shipwreck Shore in Treasure Cove, guests will be enveloped in spooky fog and encounter more ghost pirates than ever before. At the Pepsi E-Stage in Tomorrowland, guests can also enjoy a brand-new show - the “This Is Halloween!” Dance Party. The new interactive dance party features a DJ, music, and special appearances from Jack Skellington and Sally - the pumpkin king of Halloween Town and the humanoid ragdoll from “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” - who play interactive games with guests.

Get dressed up for this Halloween season

Halloween is a delightful holiday that gives people of all ages a great excuse to play dress up. This year, guests are encouraged to wear their favorite Halloween costume during their visits to the park to win a free Halloween sticker. What’s more, an area near Sweethearts Confectionery on Mickey Avenue will also serve as a face-painting hub where guests can pay to receive special Halloween-themed face paints. To unlock the magic of a Disney Halloween and add an element of mystery, a full range of Halloween-themed dress up items are also available at Avenue M Arcade to help guests of all ages get immersed in the wicked atmosphere.

Guests can also enjoy trick-or-treat fun with Mickey Mouse and his pals as they dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes and take photos with guests along Mickey Avenue. Children under 16 are also welcome to join in on the trick-or-treat fun at the resort hotels from October 29 to November 2, and throughout Disneytown at the World of Disney Store, Mickey’s Playground, the Walt Disney Grand Theatre and other select locations.

Festive-themed menus deliver a spooky taste of Halloween

Throughout the season, Shanghai Disney Resort will offer an extensive menu reflecting a rich diversity of authentic and savory seasonal dishes and refreshments, including Halloween Mickey blueberry muffins, Halloween Duffy pumpkin cupcakes in Remy's Patisserie and premium glittering StellaLou Halloween glowing sips in quick service restaurants and kiosks. The Royal Banquet Hall is also serving up impressive fall flavors, such as Halloween crab cakes with mango salsa, and beef cheek rendang in mini pumpkins, bringing a touch of tasty magic to the spooky season. Adorable popcorn buckets featuring the lovable StellaLou will also prove to be a popular photo-worthy item throughout the resort this fall.

Last year’s popular black bun burger has made a comeback at the Stargazer Grill this fall, featuring an updated recipe designed to satisfy guests’ hunger. Also back by popular demand is our Halloween cotton candy, a perfect grab-n-go treat for every sweet tooth. Starting from October 13, guests can even enjoy a Halloween-themed buffet with family and friends at Lumiére’s Kitchen where they’ll be immersed in an enchanting Halloween dining environment.

Stylish products help guests enjoy the spirit of Halloween

Guests of all ages can enjoy a wide range of Halloween-themed merchandise offerings - from pumpkins to spooky bats, spider webs and other classic Halloween decorations. This Halloween season, plush toys, mugs and pins featuring Jack and Sally also have made their debut in the park alongside a popular Halloween Mickey and Minnie collection that features a stylish Minnie Mouse in a witch’s hat embellished with an orange bow and purple ribbons. Guests can also discover this year’s all-new Halloween Duffy and Friends collection, featuring StellaLou Halloween headbands, Duffy and Friends plush and key chains, and limited-edition pins developed exclusively for Shanghai Disney Resort.

A wicked celebration that whirls its way into Disneytown and the resort hotels

This year, Disney’s Halloween magic has made its way through the park to Disneytown and the two resort hotels - Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and Toy Story Hotel. Every weekend from October 1 through November 4, as well as on October 30 and 31, guests can join a series of wicked weekend dance parties with surprise appearances from Mickey and Minnie. Surrounding the parties will be delightful Halloween DIY workshops and tasty treats, as well as a whole host of fun Halloween surprise around every corner.

From October 1, every weekend brunch at Lumiére’s Kitchen, and dinner in Sunnyside Café, will give children dining with their families the opportunity to dress like junior chefs and make Halloween-themed cupcakes guided by hotel chefs as part of a unique and immersive Halloween experience.

This autumn, guests of all ages are welcome to enjoy the spooky fun of Halloween at Shanghai Disney Resort.

The First Disney Imaginations Shanghai Design Competition Successfully Wraps Up at Shanghai Disney Resort

Team Magic Plate stood out among 100 entries from universities across Shanghai

Shanghai Disney Resort today crowned the winner of the very first Disney Imaginations Shanghai Design Competition, after hundreds of students submitted their ideas and demonstrated their talent and passion for creative entertainment. Every stage of the competition saw teams comprised of local college students exhibiting their extraordinary design skills and creative abilities, with the competition further showcasing Shanghai Disney Resort’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of theme park designers and innovators.

Students from five selected universities across Shanghai proposed hypothetical concepts as part of the project’s challenge to recreate the experience of safely exploring the natural and ancient wonders of the world at Shanghai Disneyland. Approximately 100 applications were received, of which, 6 finalists were selected by an international panel of judges from Shanghai Disney Resort and Walt Disney Imagineering Asia. The submissions were all judged on their conceptual design, technological innovation, creativity, and storytelling. The judges also made their selections based on the teams’ ability to work together and to tell a compelling and engaging story.

Earlier today, the six finalist teams from Shanghai Theatre Academy, East China University of Science and Technology, and Donghua University presented their projects to the leadership of Shanghai Disney Resort and Walt Disney Imagineering Asia, with each team showcasing their creativity and ability to innovate.

After much deliberation, Magic Plate from East China University of Science and Technology was awarded first place for their inventive design titled Pa-Ro-Dye which was themed to Paricutin volcano in Mexico. They will receive a fully sponsored trip by Shanghai Disney Resort to the Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) headquarters in Glendale, California, where they will go behind-the-scenes and gain a once-in-a-lifetime learning experience. Upon their return to China, the team can continue their creative journey by interning at Shanghai Disney Resort, where they will be able to learn from some of the most creative minds in the industry.

The Walt Disney Imagineering’s Imaginations Design Competition in the US was created in 1991 by Disney Legend and Imagineering executive, the late Marty Sklar, with the purpose of seeking out and nurturing the next generation of diverse Imagineers. Many of the participants interned at Walt Disney Imagineering, and some even went on to become full-time Imagineers. Committed to bringing the best of Disney’s creative practices to local industries, and to cultivating young local talents, Shanghai Disney Resort launched the Disney Imaginations Shanghai Design Competition earlier this year at select universities with support from the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission.

The First “Snow” of Winter Falls at Shanghai Disney Resort, Marking the Start of the Christmas Season

Christmas Season Starts as Guest Satisfaction Reach Highest Levels Since Opening

This holiday season, Shanghai Disney Resort will be transformed into an enchanting winter wonderland, as the resort welcomes the festive Christmas season with authentic celebrations. The festivities will kick off this week with the first “snowfall” of winter arriving exclusively at Shanghai Disneyland’s Mickey Avenue. Set to cover the entire street in glistening white flakes, this touch of holiday magic will last all the way through to January 1, 2019. The Christmas season comes as guest satisfaction ratings for Shanghai Disneyland have reached their highest levels since grand opening, with even more options to access Fastpass services and shorter wait times for key attractions. It’s never been a better time to experience the magic of Disney and an authentic Christmas experience.

The Christmas festivities extend across the resort, including in Disneytown, where guests are also invited to enjoy the magic of our delightful outdoor skating rink. A first for Disneytown, the Wishing Star Skating Rink opens December 7. In addition to these wintertime wonders, the entire resort will also be bursting with festive Christmas touches designed to welcome guests who come to enjoy a happy holiday with their friends and loved ones.

Indulge in an Enchanted White Christmas in Shanghai

Guests who have long been dreaming of a white Christmas can see their dreams come true this year during a visit to Shanghai Disney Resort. Every evening throughout the holiday season, guests can enjoy a magical winter snowfall of fluffy, white “snowflakes” during the brand-new, “Mickey Avenue Winter Wonderland” show. The falling snow adds a memorable touch to the romantic and festive atmosphere on Mickey Avenue this Christmas, and the snowy scenes will offer an ideal place for guests to snap photos and share their experiences with friends and family.

For the first time ever, Disneytown will also be hosting a wonderful Wishing Star Skating Rink from December 7 through the end of February, adding extra excitement for guests to enjoy throughout the winter season. The brand new skating rink is a must-visit for all Disney fans as well as friends and families of all ages who are looking to make a lasting winter memory. The rink will be located in the center of the Disneytown Christmas Market and will offer everything guests need to enjoy a special skating experience.

Authentic Christmas Celebrations Return - Now With a Fresh New Look

No Christmas celebration would be complete without the dazzling “When We’re Together” Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Enchanted Storybook Castle. In this popular show, Olaf from “Frozen” will take guests on a holiday exploration with beautiful projections of holiday traditions dancing along the castle’s façade. The show culminates in a captivating tree-lighting ceremony, when the resort’s towering Christmas tree comes to life with glittering lights and joyous music.

Festive decorations are an essential element of Christmas celebrations around the world, and as guests meander down Mickey Avenue they can witness this tradition firsthand. Storefronts, lampposts and rooftops all along the avenue have been decorated with glimmering garlands, festive ornaments, Christmas wreaths and traditional red bows, adding to the resort’s wondrous wintertime atmosphere.

This year, Mickey and Minnie and all their friends will also be dressed in brand new Christmas outfits, and will help to spread the holiday spirit throughout the resort. Each morning, guests can join Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and the Shanghai Disneyland Band as “Happy Holidays Mickey!” returns to the resort. Guests can then gather later in the day to enjoy “Christmas Swing” - the fun, holiday-themed show packed with cheerful songs and Disney pals.

On weekdays, guests can also meet Goofy, dressed-up in his signature Santa costume, as he delights guests of all ages along Mickey Avenue with his warm season’s greetings and snaps holiday photos with other merry-makers.

One-Stop Holiday Shopping at Shanghai Disney Resort

With Christmas being a time for giving, there’s no better place to pick up your holiday gift than at Shanghai Disney Resort this December.

The resort’s newest Christmas collection includes more than 30 limited-release products, with designs featuring snowflakes, Christmas trees, gift boxes, sleighs and other classic Christmas elements. Guests can find new Minnie Mouse headbands in a variety of colors and patterns, a glowing Mickey Mouse Christmas hat, and exclusive youth fleeces that serve as great accessories to wear on a visit to the resort. An entire collection of cute Christmas Duffy, ShellieMay, Gelatoni and StellaLou plush dolls and keyrings, as well as blankets and pins also make for exquisite gifts for family and friends. Plus, guests will also find a wide array of home décor and souvenirs to help them create a warm Christmas atmosphere wherever they go.

Guests can even enjoy free Christmas gift-wrapping at Sweethearts Confectionery, Intergalactic Imports and the World of Disney Store on any single purchase of RMB300 or more – helping to create beautiful holiday bundles for friends and loved ones.

Top Off Your Celebration with a Christmas Feast at Shanghai Disney Resort

Guest will find themselves surrounded by holiday-themed food and beverage delights while wandering through Shanghai Disney Resort this winter. But no Christmas celebration is truly complete without a delicious holiday feast.

In honor of the holiday, the Royal Banquet Hall is presenting a brand new Christmas feast this year, featuring slow-cooked beef short rib with porcini rub, vanilla butter poached lobster tail with champagne sabayon, orange truffle chocolate Christmas tree cake, and much more.

From the top floor of the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel, guests can also enjoy panoramic views of the Disney castle as they dine on an unforgettable six-course menu at Aurora restaurant. This fine-dining experience is the perfect way to end a trip to the resort or even as a special evening trip out on its own to celebrate the holidays with an authentic Christmas dinner.

The Christmas feast at Lumiére's Kitchen is also a great way to celebrate the holiday with family, and features a sumptuous buffet featuring caviar, oysters, crab legs, sashimi, whole roast turkeys, a wide variety of Christmas desserts, and much more. Mickey, Minnie and other Disney friends will also join throughout the meal in their special yuletide apparel.

As one of the most iconic holiday dishes, turkey legs will also be on offer as part of the Christmas feast in Pinocchio Village Kitchen, along with Mickey-shaped prawn and crab pizzas to delight guests’ taste buds.

This Christmas, Remy’s Patisserie will also be the destination of choice for those with even the slightest sweet tooth as they roll out their Christmas log cakes, Christmas cupcakes, a fruitcake series, and an upcoming live crêpe station featuring delectable cream fillings and ice cream toppings, with flavors like strawberry, Nutella, banana and chocolate. Candy apple treats at Sweethearts Confectionery are also being dressed up in Mickey and Minnie Christmas attire and are ready to be brought home by guests for a fun sweet treat. Whether watching the tree lighting ceremony or enjoying a stroll through Mickey Avenue amidst the snowfall, one of the resort’s hot beverages with character-themed Christmas sleeves will also bring even more warmth and magic to your visit.

Extend the Fun with a Visit to Disneytown and the Resort Hotels

When guests arrive in Disneytown they will see a beautiful Christmas tree with shimmering lights and ornaments on the Marketplace Stage, as well as holiday garlands woven up Spice Alley and down Broadway Boulevard. The magic will continue along the Christmas tree trail where eight distinct trees will be decorated to evoke different Disney Characters wind through Disneytown, creating unique photo locations for guests. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, Mickey Mouse will also make a special appearance in Disneytown, joining Christmas carolers as they host a marvelous Disneytown Tree Lighting Ceremony.

The hit Christmas Market also returns to Disneytown’s Lakeshore District this year, with a series of enjoyable craft stations, food booths and other holiday-themed activities all specially designed to bring famous holiday traditions to life. Roaming carolers will also lend an air of seasonal celebration to the festivities, and on the weekends, lucky guests will even have the opportunity to meet Santa Claus himself—sharing their holiday wishes and taking pictures of the magical holiday experience.

For guests who are making a multi-day visit to enjoy the plentiful offerings throughout the resort this Christmas, the resort’s two themed hotels are offering a perfect holiday stay. Shanghai Disneyland Hotel will greet guests with a beautiful Christmas tree and ornate decorations throughout the entrance and lobby, plus cheerful surprises like a meet and greet with Christmas Goofy, and visits from roaming carolers singing holiday favorites. Guests can choose from a variety of themed rooms, with immersive decorations inspired by Christmas Mickey and Minnie, Duffy and friends, or “Frozen”. Each room type features its own magical holiday elements, like snow globes, children’s stationery sets, plush toys, fleece throws and more.

Toy Story Hotel will also transport guests into a Christmas world, with its own toy-themed Christmas tree and decorations throughout the lobby, plus a special Mickey and Minnie room option with fun in-room delights. In addition, guests can enjoy a number of gift-inspired activities, including gift wrapping and a Christmas Magical Passing. Both hotels will also feature themed drinks, desserts and other holiday treats throughout each of their respective restaurants and food service locations.
