[Disneyland Park] Fantasmic!

En bref, les nouveautées...

* Ajout de Flotsam & Jetsam, les deux murènes d'Ursula dans "La Petite Sirène", au tableau des méchants. Ils serpentent désormais sur Rivers of America devant la projection animée d'Ursula sur le rideau d'eau.

* Ces projections de Personnages Disney sur les rideaux d'eau sont désormais en HD.

* L'équipage du Capitaine Crochet (sur le Sailing Ship Columbia) est désormais composé de véritables acrobates professionels ce qui promet des scènes spectaculaires.

* Nouveau crocodile "dernière génération" qui pourchasse le Capitaine Crochet.

* Nouvelle transformation de Maléfique, elle grimpe à prêt de 10 mètres de haut, en moins de 17 secondes.

* Nouveau dragon (pas encore arrivé sur le show), avec un design en trois dimensions qui copiera à merveille les mouvements que fait le dragon dans le film "La Belle au Bois Dormant".

Nouveaux équipements et aménagements, re-dynamisation de certaines scènes, nouveaux effets pyrotechniques...bref! Un Fantasmic remit au goût du jour, à découvrir sur Characters Photos Blog.

Que pensez-vous de cette nouvelle version !? Personnellement j'adore, elle est beaucoup plus dynamique et j'ai hâte de voir ce que ça donnera quand le nouveau dragon sera mis en service.

Le hic, c'est qu'un nouveau crocodile, c'est bien sympa. Mais je pense que ce qu'on veut tous voir, c'est le nouveau dragon et là, pour l'heure, c'est le flop...

Je viens justement de découvrir une pub étant destinée à ce fameux dragon du show Fanstamic. Bon apparement elle date de début juin, donc je pense qu'elle a déjà été vue par quelques membres du forum mais je poste quand même...

Dragon qui n'est toujours pas arrivé sur le show... la date du 17 juillet semble plus propice à la première version "complète" du show!

J'ai mangé a coté de quatres mec de la WDI au restaurant annet qui parlait du nouveau show ^^

J'ai en programme de retourner à disneyland pour la fin de l'eté,quelqun peut me dire jusqu'à quand fantasmic est programmé ou aussi s'il le font en baisse saison?

La saison d'été sera finie en tout cas le 23 Août, mais après cette date, je ne sais pas si le show sera encore programmé...

Espérons surtout que le nouveau dragon arrive avant la fin de la saison d'été... Quelqu'un sait pourquoi le dragon n'est pas là ? J'ai entendu parler de disfonctionnements au niveau du cou, de la tête, de manque de temps et bien plus... J'ai même entendu dire que le dragon était encore en kit.
Mais qu'en est-il vraiment ?

C'est fou que l'on puisse impunément communiquer sur un show alors que celui ci n'est pas prét, enfin si les gens ne se plaignent pas cela ne doit pas les déranger.

laisse les Passeports Annuel locaux s'en occupé ils sont proffessionner pour ca . City Hall est toujours prisé en cas de publicité mensongere ou autres grosses pannes .

La preuve ? Pourquoi crois tu que '' Light Magic '' le remplacent de la MSEP en 1996 a disparu ? Parce que ils avaient trop de plaintes .

Pareil pour les 50ans et les flux de visiteurs . Trop de plainte et hop des Casts tout le long de Main Street et partout sur le HUB pour géré les flux des visiteurs .

Non le nouveau dragon est toujours en période de Test . Ils essayent de faire en sorte que l'éffondrement du Dragon ne se reproduise plus .

Sur Miceage ( forum americain ) une personne dit que un nouveau system de balance de poid de la structure a été trouvé et que d'ici la fin du mois Le Nouveau Dragon sera en place .

Dommage pour Disneyland Resort qui avais misé toute leurs campagne de Fantasmic sur leur nouveau Dragon . Heureusement que le reste est réussi .

Dans le Disneyland Park de Californie (le tout premier Disneyland !), à Frontierland, et également à Disney's Hollywood Studios (le grand frère de notre Parc Walt Disney Studios), l'un des quatre parcs de Walt Disney World Resort en Floride.

Pour le Fantasmique de Floride, oui je sais puisque j'y suis allé.

mais pour le spectalcle de californie ... tu me dis : à Frontierland ?

C'est pas sur l'eau ?

En fait, d'après Wikipédia, le spectacle est présenté sur les rives de Rivers of America, et visible depuis Frontierland et New Orleans Square. Plus précisement, à ce que j'ai lu, sur une île de ce cours d'eau. Et à la différence de la version de Floride, la version californienne de Fantasmic! utilise le Mark Twain, utilisé le jour pour des excursions comme dans notre Frontierland parisien.

Non on reste debout pendant le show, mais celui-ci est superbe! Tous les décors de Frontierland sont utilisés, comme le Mark Twain, ce qui a été dit plus haut.

J'ai hâte de voir les effets de ce nouveau dragon!!

Murphy's Stall

The big question on everyone's mind is obviously, when will Murphy the ever-so-troublesome Fantasmic dragon finally appear? The current answer is not for at least a couple more weeks, and perhaps not even until after the Nightastic campaign officially ends on the 23rd. The company contracted by Disneyland's Entertainment Department to build and install the finished dragon recently completed that task, after weeks of shoehorning new equipment and repaired infrastructure back into the pit on Tom Sawyer Island.

The newly redesigned dragon and the elevator lift it rises up on is so much heavier now with all of the reinforcements that four new larger motors also just had to be installed to ensure that Murphy can rise up out of his lair two or three times per night on cue.

But now, almost two months behind schedule, the dragon has been turned over to the Entertainment Department to begin the extensive programming and testing needed to allow Murphy to go through his scripted paces, including the very tricky element of spitting giant plumes of fire out over the Rivers of America. Since the folks working in the Entertainment Department's technical services group really don't know how the dragon will respond to all of the work yet to come, the tentative debut date of August 16th now being considered (and posted as gospel by some who should know better) should be taken with a huge grain of salt.

True, the mechanical bits were done this weekend and it appears to be "fixed". But there are still days and weeks of programming and testing needed. This wasn't going to be a human-controlled effect like the original dragon, which had an operator down in the pit working a glorified joystick to get the boom and head to move around at showtime. This is going to be more like an animatronic that has a computer program that goes through its paces automatically at the push of a button from the control booth. That takes programming and testing to make sure the clearances all work and it moves and acts like the show designers want it to. It may look finished, but there is still plenty of work and testing to be completed.

The other mess the Fantasmic team has been trying to fix is the new Flotsam and Jetsam (or Flotsam and Jetski, as the crew calls the creatures powered by Honda AquaTrax machines). One of the eels ran into the central pyrotechnics barge while snaking its way across the water during the show just over a week ago, and since then the eels have been cut from nightly performances. Luckily the driver was okay and no major damage was done to any equipment, but the eels were pulled until a fix could be made for the extremely poor vision the drivers have to work with underneath the eel head.

The solution appears to be the installation of tiny night-vision cameras with a small screen inside the driver compartment that will allow the drivers to maneuver around the island and floating equipment barges much easier. They've been rehearsing the new night-vision eels since this past Friday, and if things continue to go well the return of Flotsam and Jetski could happen by the time you read this update.

Blame Game
All of these technical problems for the reworked Fantasmic show have caused a predictable round of finger pointing, and the popular culprit in Entertainment is now the decision by TDA to delay the Fantasmic rehab by two months in order to continue nightly performances of the show last January and February.

Regular readers will remember that Fantasmic went to an unusual nightly schedule of performances through the dead of winter while Main Street USA was repaved and all parades were cancelled for three months. The decision then to continue offering Fantasmic ever night so that at least one major "spectacular" was offered each day to winter crowds was a noble one, but even then it wasn't a popular one with the folks in Entertainment who wanted more time to prepare all of their new summer toys. The result was an extremely rushed spring rehab that left many loose ends and an expensive new dragon who broke his neck with a thunderous crash just days before his official debut.

The response and damage control now requires another lengthy rehab for Fantasmic, and the show is now planned to close for two months just after Labor Day regardless of whether or not Murphy debuts this August. The schedules for Disneyland haven't been publicly released yet, but weekends in September will only feature the Celebrate street party and encore performances of the Magical fireworks. The Remember fireworks look to have entered Yesterland, unless they get a sudden reprieve.

This upcoming winter will also have an extended Fantasmic closure, as the Rivers of America are drained for a needed refurbishment from January to April. After a few months of rehearsals, Fantasmic should return again in June for the 2010 summer season, and only then will it likely feature every element it was supposed to feature this summer. 2010 also means the 55th Anniversary, and the Anaheim property will get in on a broader theme centered on the "Happiest Memories On Earth," with World of Color making its debut as part of that campaign kick-off in the spring without an adjacent Fantasmic to compare it to.

The Reluctant Dragon

We should probably start with the latest news on Murphy (the new Fantasmic! dragon), since his failure to appear will be what the summer of 2009 is remembered for. All of the mechanical and structural repairs and alterations have been completed on the dragon as of last week.

The story of exactly what went wrong with the robotic dragon in the first place is a tricky one, and the information that has fallen into place over the last month now points not to mechanical design flaws or errors in the installation process, but rather how the dragon was being operated by Disney's own people once the outside contractor had installed the robot this past spring.

As only Disney and the stifling bureaucracy of Team Disney Anaheim (TDA) can do, they turned the whole issue into a witch hunt of sorts, with each department happy to make more work for the others in an attempt to prove their necessity to their various bosses. In short, the process of fixing the dragon became an epic battle of bureaucracy and engineering, retrofitting in additional equipment on the fly to handle all of the added weight that wouldn't have been needed had the robot simply been operated as he was designed.

The issue has been such a big deal that none other than reclusive Disneyland President Ed Grier paid a visit to Tom Sawyer Island last week to see the dragon for himself (center in the photo below), and the Anaheim Cast Members all know that if it's something that gets Ed Grier actually into the park it must be extremely unusual and very important.

The man to Ed's right in the above photo is Al Weiss, the president of worldwide operations for Disney parks and resorts, and the person between Ed and Jay Rasulo on the totem pole. Al was here visiting from Florida last week and he and Ed went out to the island to see the dragon and receive some of the info into why the repair process has been so lengthy and costly.

The good news is that the dragon has been running through his paces correctly in recent days, and the delay now is more about waiting for unique valves and replacement parts for the ferocious fire breathing effect and the need to get in some quick rehearsal time before the public debut. Barring any unplanned setbacks, the dragon could appear later this week.

Those who have seen him run through his paces in person are very impressed with his size and sophistication as he glares his glowing LED eyes and bends down within a few feet of a trembling Mickey Mouse. You can bet the MiceChatters will be following his every move when he does make his first public appearance. The silver lining is that Fantasmic! has now been added back to all weekends until Thanksgiving, after originally being slated to close for the fall.

Le public est très enthousiaste !

Sur la seconde vidéo, on voit déjà que le Dragon ne tire pas son jet de flamme. J'espère que c'était juste un petit problème technique, car ça apporte quand même un plus indéniable à la crédibilité du dragon.
